From October 13th to 14th, the University of Strathclyde organized the International Conference on Maritime Safety and Operations (MSO-2016) in Glasgow. This conference was arranged in the final stages of the European Union INCASS research project, which has recently been granted a 6-month extension to enhance the achieved results.

The day before the IMO meeting, the 10th INCASS meeting took place, aiming to discuss and organize the final period of the project according to EU requirements.

The MSO conference was attended by significant representatives from the shipping and maritime industry, along with major regulatory bodies such as the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA). This gathering marked the last international event in a series of meetings and workshops organized over the past 3 years, highlighting the substantial interest in improving onboard ship inspection techniques within the INCASS project.

In this context, TSI presented the validation process of its new multi-technology recorder, the IDAO (Inspection and Diagnosis Assisted by the Operator), during the MSO conference. This platform was developed to enhance Condition-Based Monitoring (CBM) inspection procedures to support a shift in philosophy that facilitates crew participation in these activities and enables them to contribute to machinery assessment and monitoring.

The IDAO platform consolidates various measurement techniques into a single portable device, allowing the operator to save time.

The commercial version of IDAO is already available and has achieved optimal positioning in the market due to its price-performance ratio. Taking advantage of the extension granted in the INCASS project, over the next six months, equipment for training and product customization will be made available to ship operators and affiliated partners based on their specific needs and routines.
