Within the framework of collaboration that TSI, a specialized company in the dynamic and acoustic design of vessels, has with different national and international companies, and SENER as a leader in the field of shipbuilding engineering it has awarded TSI the Noise and Vibration Predictions for a 1200 passenger ferry, the basic engineering and detailed project is being developed by SENER.

These simulation studies: Vibration and Noise Prediction calculations aim to define in the early stages of the project the structural modifications and Imagen2the specific acoustic insulation required to ensure the compliance with the noise and vibration limits required by the Specification.

For the vibration prediction calculation a 3D Finite Element model that incorporates all the mass and stiffness characteristics of the ship is developed. From this model the expected vibration levels at the different locations of the ship are calculated. The comparison between these values and the limits, allow defining the structural modifications to ensure the compliance of the limits.

Similarly, in the case of noise prediction calculation a SEA- Analysis- Statistical Energy model, with all different sound sources and original isolates is carried out to obtain the expected noise levels in all the compartments of the vessel: passenger spaces, crew, labour and machinery. The comparison between these values and the limits define in the Specification for each local, allow defining the additional insulation to ensure the compliance of the limits stablished. Compliance, in both cases: vibration and noise values, are verified with corresponding sea trials.
