The SATURN consortium was assembled to provide a balance of expertise in fundamental and applied biological research, bioacoustics, maritime architecture and engineering. This combined trans-disciplinary expertise will work to address the issue of underwater radiated noise (URN) in the marine environment and seek to identify solutions and techniques to mitigate the global impact and minimise risk for receptor species at individual, population and ecosystem level.<\/p>\n To reach their goals, the SATURN project is structured in the following technical working packages:<\/p>\n TSI has a key role in the project where, among its involvement in most of the working areas, it is in charge of leading the execution of the URN trials. The participation in European projects focused on URN since 2009 (SILENV<\/a>, BESST<\/a>, AQUO<\/a>) confirms TSI as a regular participant in the URN field at the international level. Some of the tasks that TSI will develop during the SATURN project are:<\/p>\n TSI will use the \u00c1ngeles Alvari\u00f1o (oceanographic vessel of the IEO<\/a>) for the URN tests execution,\u00a0 performing the measurements in the Canary Islands during November 2022. TSI will also be responsible for reporting and sharing the results of the tests with the rest of the consortium partners, providing feedback about the execution of the draft version of the ISO 17208-3<\/a> standard as well.
